REV. MICHAEL SHACKELFORD - Senior Pastor
Pastor Mike Shackelford (Pastor Mike) became the Lead Pastor at St. John's on June 1, 2010. A graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University (weblink) and the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (weblink), Pastor Mike has been in the ministry since 1997 and has served as a pastor in two congregations in Florida and one in South Carolina. He has also been a chaplain at Tampa General Hospital and for Lutheran Hospice. He is married to his best friend, Carolyn, and they enjoy their two children Megan and Nathan. Pastor Mike enjoys hiking, biking and watching sports. Because he is a native of Virginia, he developed a love for the Washington Redskins football team (please keep him in your prayers). Pastor Mike's favorite Bible verse is "Therefore do not worry about your life...seek first God's kingdom and God's rightousness, and all will be given to you..." Matthew 6:25 & 33. This verse has helped him to better appreciate the gift of each day and how important it is to value and cultivate our relationship with God and each other.
