The SJB is a resident brass ensemble that performs for services here and carries the name of St. Johns Lutheran Church as it takes music to audiences elsewhere in the Spartanburg area. The SJB was formed in 1997 to assist in worship at St. Johns and that continues as our primary mission. The St. John’s Brass also performs quintet music for other church events including weddings, receptions, social gatherings and a wide variety of other settings where brass music is appropriate. Besides the standard sacred and classical chamber literature, our repertoire includes popular and jazz-oriented music that fits many social occasions within the church and at other indoor or outdoor settings in the community.

“Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his
  mighty heavens.
2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him
     for his surpassing greatness.

4 praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise
    him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the    LORD.”
